City Direct is a private Public Transport company established since 1999. We provide scheduled bus services on the west side of Galway city. The areas we service include Barna, Salthill, Knocknacarra, Rahoon, Shantalla and Westside. We currently have four route licences within Galway city under licence from the National Transport Authority. We have two dedicated bus shelters in Eyre Square north and we currently have a 15 minute frequency departing from there. City Direct does not receive any state funding or subsidies on any of our routes.
We are also the service provider of the Park & Ride at NUI Galway since January 2009. We provide a 15 minute frequency within the campus Monday to Friday during term.
Our bus network has been expanding as a result of positive factors including dedicated bus lanes, service reliability, increased accessibility, the need to minimise the carbon footprint of the fleet to tackle air quality, a multimedia approach to travel information and steady growth in the number of passengers travelling on our mode of transport.
